Meet the team

As Secretary for Springs Food Pantry, Carol Deistler is responsible for taking the minutes at Board Meetings, as well as writing the volunteer newsletters and sending thank you letters to those who donate in-kind goods (i.e., any non-cash contribution) to the Food Pantry. Carol also works with outside vendors and orders the produce and dairy goods that are distributed each week to our recipients, and fills in when extra hands are needed packing produce or groceries.

 

Prior to joining SFP, Carol was the Director of Enrollment Marketing at St. John’s University, Queens, NY. Previously she was a communications consultant for an international HR consulting firm.

 

Carol volunteers at SFP because she believes no one should go hungry. “Some of our recipients need a temporary helping hand, whether they are out of work, have health issues, or are retired and on a fixed income. Others - the majority of our recipients - are hard-working people who, because they are not paid a livable wage, are struggling to make ends meet. Providing our neighbors with healthy food is a wonderful way to contribute to our community."
