Dru Raley
Dru’s involvement with Springs Food Pantry began over 20 years ago shortly after joining Springs Church. At that time there were about 5 families in need. She remembers the weekly trips to local grocery stores to pick up items on sale. Over time as more clients visited, Dru recalls trips to BJ’s and traipsing across the parking lot with cases of canned and shelf stable foods.
Fast forward and now the Pantry has over 300 families a week! “When we became involved with Long Island Cares, the trucks arrived with deliveries and we were grateful not to have to personally pick up!” Times have changed and so has the Pantry. “Springs Food Pantry now receives regular deliveries from large suppliers and local farmers. So many volunteers have given their time and talent. It is truly a labor of love for our Springs neighbors in need.”
“I fondly remember many of the people that connected through our little food pantry, both volunteers & clients. Some have passed on or moved away but the friendships and teamwork live on with the current volunteers, board members and our clients.”
