Our volunteers are the lifeblood of the Pantry. From ordering food and stocking the shelves, picking & packing bags, delivering groceries at home, distributing food on Wednesdays or supporting our fundraisers, our dedicated volunteers make everything happen!
Would you like to volunteer? We are always seeking people in the community who are able to contribute their time on a regular basis to support Springs Food Pantry. Read more below and fill out the online form if interested.
What do volunteers do?
The majority of our volunteer work each week is in packing food, helping to carry bags on distribution Wednesdays and restocking shelves with new supplies. A typical time commitment is ~2 hours per week. We prefer to have volunteers who can commit to a day every week throughout the year, but we all have busy lives and we can try to accommodate your schedule.
Here’s a list of basic roles and descriptions:

Stocking & shelving - Monday and Thursday mornings, ~2 hours. Some heavy lifting restocking our shelves with boxed dry and canned goods.

Bag packing - Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, ~3 hours. Adding the week’s menu items to hundreds of grocery bags to be ready for distribution.

Distribution & bag carrying - Wednesdays 1:30 - 6:30 in shifts. Organizing bags for distribution or helping to carry heavy bags of produce and groceries to the recipients’ cars.

Parking lot - Wednesdays 1:30 - 6:30 in shifts. Coordinating parking line and directing recipients for entry/exit into Food Pantry.

Check-in - Wednesdays 1:30 - 6:30 in shifts. Checking in or registering recipients on our computer system. Fluency in Spanish is essential.

Car deliveries - Wednesday afternoons, ~1 hour. Driving your car and dropping off deliveries for certain recipients in Springs.

Fundraising event support - Seasonal, variable time commitment. Helping with event activities like initial contact and follow through with vendors, managing silent auctions, serving beverages, event set up/take down, etc.

Marketing - ongoing, variable time commitment. Assisting with event promotions, website management, graphic design, etc.
